NCAA Basketball Tournament The NCAA (otherwise known as the National Collegiate Athletic Association);

The NCCA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship is known as a single elimination tournament – the current season or competition is the 2008 NCAA Men’s Division Basketball Tournament. The most recent champions are the Kansas Jayhawks. The official website for the NCAA is ncaa.com

It is held each spring featuring 65 basketball teams (college) in the USA. Dr Peter Graham developed this tournament. As it takes place in March; it has been referred to as ‘March Madness’ and ‘The Big Dance’.

Over 3 weeks the tournament is run across various regions of the United States. The national semifinals is referred to as the Final Four.

This year it was held in San Antonio with record attendance at NCAA Hoop City where the weather produced sunny days and much coca-cola and hoopla on hand to enrich the Big Dance experience. College basketball fans attended the Big Dance and other events held over the Final Four weekend in San Antonio.

It is easy to see how the Final Four have become one of the nation’s most enjoyed and popular sporting events. Since its inception in 1939, it has been characterised by legendary teams and dramatic upsets by underdog forces.

Most games are televised on the CBS television network through the United States and friendly wagering of various kinds takes place as a national recreational pastime. This is part and parcel of every national sports game and hopefully wagering on the NCAA Basketball Tournaments isn’t taking too much of a toll on the fan’s disposable incomes.
