RULES THAT ARE BASIC TO BASKETBALL AND HOW THEY ARE PLAYED

While many people claim that basketball is a game that consists of complicated and complex rules which may take ages to understand, I have to tell you that millions of people are engaging in this sports as you are reading this article.

Basketball rules aren’t rocket science. It is just that beginners who are new to this game don’t seem to understand that they need to be familiarized with the rules in order not to be fouled frequently.

Usually, many beginners tend to hold something with two hands. Therefore, many beginners have a huge tendency to make to commit a foul of dribbling the ball after they had held it with both hands. The rule is to allow a person to hold the ball with two hands only once. He is not longer allowed to dribble the ball anymore.

Besides, basketball players tend to commit a foul when they are cornered near the edges of the court. When an ineffective pass is conducted, a team member might find himself to be near the boundary of the basketball court. The opponents might take this golden opportunity to crowd around him before he makes another pass.

When the unfortunate team member is cornered, he commits a foul by dribbling the ball beyond the basketball court’s boundary. Otherwise, the opponent is able to successfully steal the ball if he doesn’t bring the ball out of the basketball court’s boundary.

Another common foul committed by beginners is usually the application of physical force on the members of the opposing team. The game’s excitement heightens to a peak when one team is about to lose the game. Therefore, the team members, out of desperation to win the game, decide to use physical force to retrieve the ball from the hands of the opponents.

When the opposing team member is being guarded by the losing team while the ball is launched, the losing team uses physical force to stop an effective goal. This physical force does not mean that the losing team punches or kicks the opposing team member. Instead, he violently knocks/bumps into the other team member purposely. This desperate attempt at stopping an effective goal usually disrupts the harmony of a good game as the teams will be angry at each other for a lack of sportsmanship.

In short, to play a good basketball game, it is best to observe the correct rules. Winning the game is important, but observing sportsmanship is the top priority. Learn to play basketball basic rules for your own satisfaction, safety and action.
